Many of you will remember when Sarah Chayes gave a Bemis lecture to a packed Donaldson Auditorium. For some, such as myself, it was an introduction to the history and complexities of modern-day Afghanistan. She was charismatic and held the audience long after we were due to close. Many stayed after to talk with her and learn more about Arghand.
Her work with Arghand was supported locally by sales of the products-beautiful creams and soaps-at the Old Town Hall Exchange. If you are looking for a way to provide some immediate help for those still in Afghanistan, here is one way. And, if you are looking for updates and reflections from an educated, experienced and critical eye, Chayes' newsletter may prove what you are looking for.
