Just before I was elected to be a Selectman in Belmont, many moons ago, I initiated a project called "Benches for Belmont". Residents were invited to make contributions to the town's coffers in return for having a bench with a brass plaque on it dedicating it to a person or a cause. It was a very, very popular program, and led in time to the large number of benches in Belmont Center as well as elsewhere in town. Maybe we could start something like that?
