Both the machines are using same version of linaro-image-tools.
As for qemu versions, the working setup has qemu 0.14.1+ whereas the
faulty build machine has qemu 0.14.0+.
If this is one concern area, I will upgrade qemu on the faulty build
machine and recheck.
I upgraded the faulty machine to 11.10 oneiric. With that, I don't find
any error in l-m-c build.

Does anybody have a clue about what might be wrong with that build

The build machine is a x86 based system running Ubuntu 11.04. If any
specific information required, please let me know.
