Preferably, if you can post it upstream (e.g. on the USB mailing list) and you get positive feedback there then I'll be happy to merge it. If this is stuff that is intended to be in upstream someday but is not in a shape for it yet then we need to discuss. I would be inclined to merge it to give it exposure as long as it is reasonably certain that nothing else might break due to that merge.
