Hi Jim, There are easier ways to do what you want. =)
There exist “simplifier” transposition functions (like <http://lsr.di.unimi.it/LSR/Item?id=266>). If you need more granular control (i.e., the ability to dictate exactly which pitches would appear), that could easily be added. This kind of thing would also automagically work — or easily be made to work — on chords. Hope this helps!
