I find it at least surprising that text formatting alignment is suddenly broken in that context. Unfortunately it looks like you can not combine the vertical stacking of text in the repeating section with the \alternative statement, probably because you don't use \repeat for the lyrics at all. Oh well, it looks fine on paper now, in the end that's all I need ! My fellow singers will not know that the underlying code is a bit convoluted :-).
