Hi Gilberto,
the barline-interface has been changed quite heavily with 2.17.
Please reread
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.17/Documentation/notation/bars#bar-lines
and shout again, if the problem persists.
If you rework a 2.16-file you should use convert-ly.
