I've found a piano score that seems, to my eyes, both more "friendly" and more beautiful than Henle's Beethoven sonatas: the Chopin Nocturnes from Wiener Urtext, catalogue UT 50065 from 1980. If this turns out to have been computer-generated, then I'll just have to hang my head in shame. :)
