I have been using Lilypond with Frescobaldi for a long time now. Recently I reinstalled Windows (W7 Ult x64), then Lilypond (2.16.2) and Frescobaldi (2.0.8) and on compiling a .ly file I got the error message:
"Starting lilypond-windows.exe [Szelid szemed_parts.ly]... Exited with return code 1." After much headache I discovered that there was a syntax error in the code (g2' instead of g'2). What still remains a bothering question is: Why do I not get detailed error messages about my errors (indicating line number, column, etc.)? Note1: On my other machine running W7 Home Premium x64, Lilypond 2.14.2 and Frescobaldi 2.0.8 I get detailed error messages such as: "Starting lilypond-windows.exe 2.14.2 [Irgalmazz.ly]... Processing `D:/My Documents/Lilypond/Kottak/Irgalmazz.ly' Parsing... D:/My Documents/Lilypond/Kottak/Irgalmazz.ly:38:14: error: syntax error, unexpected ''' a8 ' e' e g f4 e c8 e d c b4 a D:/My Documents/Lilypond/Kottak/Irgalmazz.ly:52:8: error: errors found, ignoring music expression << error: failed files: "D:/My Documents/Lilypond/Kottak/Irgalmazz.ly" Exited with return code 1." Note: On the machine in question in the Lilypond Preferences window on the Lilypond versions to use list next to the lilypond executable I see a no entry sign instead of the lily (red circle with a white horizontal line in the middle), and the version number is not recognized. You may fire at me for the long message, but I wanted to describe the error as clearly as possible. How do I get my lily installation correctly recognized and get the detailed error messages back? _______________________________________________ lilypond-user mailing list lilypond-user@gnu.org https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-user
