I realize that the 3s are unnecessary. You could just write c1:5.9 and
c1:5.2 and the result will be the same.

To see the chords that LilyPond generates from chordmode, you can replace
\new ChordNames \chordmode { ... } with \new Staff \chordmode { ... }.
