What did I incorrectly code? When creating voices implicitly with the << {...} \\ {...} >> structure, the first voice context is "1" and the second "2". "1" is considered the upper voice and has stems up and rests above, "2" has stems down and rests below. So reverse the two contexts, as below. But it would be better to explicitly create the voices.
