Thanks. I had already tested that as a solution, but the problem there
is that if the inner and outer voices aren't voiceOne and voiceTwo (as
is suggested under the heading Voice Order at
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.17/Documentation/notation/multiple-voices/multiple-voices#single_002dstaff-polyphony
<http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.17/Documentation/notation/multiple-voices#single_002dstaff-polyphony>),
then whenever the music is in only two voices, which is most of the
time, I frequently have to use \override NoteColumn #'ignore-collision =
##t anyway in order to prevent unnecessary vertical misalignment of
simultaneous notes in the two voices.
