Sure! Don't use any staff at all, just an explicit Lyrics context with durations: << \chords { d1 d1 } \new Lyrics \lyricmode { Op4 een4 gro4 -- te4 pad4 -- de4 -- stoel,2 } >> explicit Lyrics durations are mentioned in Notation Reference 2.1, but i guess the explanation is not clear enough.
