Nice!  Some comments:

. Please explain why only 223 glyphs.  People expect 256 as the limit,
  I think.

. FontForge is not used to `display' the resulting glyph shapes but to
  convert the raw outlines created by mf2pt1 into valid OpenType
  glyphs by removing overlapping contours and applying hints, then
  merging it with the external lilypond tables into a set of OpenType
  fonts.
