In January, development will start on Frescobaldi 2.0. The current plan is to remove the dependency on KDE. So just Qt4 and probably Python will be required, which will make it easier to make Frescobaldi available on other platforms than Linux. A custom PDF widget instead of embedding Okular will allow for tighter integration between the source and preview.
AFAIK the current version of Frescobaldi uses also the KDE python bindings. While KDE itself is ported to Windows [1], these python bindings has always be the reason, why Frescobaldi is not available for Windows users. Will the new KDE-free Frescobaldi run on the Windows KDE port?
