If you want to improve the help string, go ahead. I can apply the patch for you. Just keep in mind that each line of the help string should fit within a ~ 70-char width terminal. I believe I modified the help string last (you can see by running `git blame scm/lily.scm'), and I basically modified the description so that it's not specific to the EPS backend.
