I don't know about your version, but in mine the marks are centered above the barline, which could be a bit confusing when adding a (longer) text to the mark. It pushes the box with the letter to a position before the actual mark.
It works better with: \override Score.RehearsalMark #'self-alignment-X = #-1 Best regards, Jethro.
