I had the same problem and started to work on a patch. You might want to have a look at http://www.mail-archive.com/lilypond-de...@gnu.org/msg28324.html if you are willing to work with the lilypond sources. The patch is not yet finished but it works already for my case. It would surely be great if you could provide some test case(s).
