Neither format-mark-box-alphabet nor format-mark-circle-alphabet are
presently documented. I suggested a possible emendation to the
documentation a while ago
(http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2009-11/msg00619.html),
but it doesn't seem to have made it there.
