Hmm, I think this would be very tricky (if not impossible currently) since you'd need the ambitus information to be accessible from markup; as it stands, even getting the pitch range out of the engraver (via the created grobs) isn't simple: the heads only carry their staff-position (there's no equivalent event which has pitch information).
