that was it! i hadn't realized there was no ' before of no-flag, sorry. now it works to perfection. and thank you very much for the thorough explanation of how this works.
It might be a bit confusing that there are two equally valid ways, one of which uses 'no-flag and one of which uses no-flag without the quote, though...
i agree that it's confusing, and i second kieren's suggestion, i find it very apropos.
