Nick, Sorry I wasn't clearer initially. The \bar "||:" command gives a double-bar at the end of the preceding line when the volta starts at the beginning of a new line. The default behavior at line breaks is to use \bar "|:" (internally, I guess), that is, a single bar at the end of the preceding line.
