Hi, Valentin. Ended up doing it less elegantly, not changing staff but using four leger lines.
The example as given in the LSR & also examlpes in the manual for changing staff do not fit the pattern given in Template D.2.2 'Piano and melody with lyrics. Could the LSR example be modified to fit the template structure.
