Thanks Sam,
Perhaps I am not asking for help in the right way.
I know these two postings should have been under Canorus but you can
look at them anyway:
https://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?
func=detailbug&group_id=1&bug_id=10693
https://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?
func=detailbug&group_id=1&bug_id=10735
and this is the latest one I put into Canorus help.
https://developer.berlios.de/forum/message.php?msg_id=37096
In summary, the errors in 10693 are due to SWIG and Python, thus
Matevž told me to excluding them from the cmake build.
10735 resolved in svn R425
and 37096 is open. Don't know how to proceed.
What is the best way to get help? BerliOS? canorus-devel? I would
like to give this a try. From what you said about Resegarden and
Demeno, Canorus is the better bet.
As for Lilypond.app, I used it for a while. But on OSX, when you
download the whole Tex environment (http://www.tug.org/mactex/ ,) you
get a gui app called TexShop.app. It is more feature rich than
Lilypond.app and accepts and runs .ly files without problem.

A few weeks ago, Matevž posted an announcement about Canorus. I have
tried to make it work on Mac OS X. Unfortunately, my programming
skills are not up to the challenge. Has anyone else taken a look at
Canorus, Mac OS X or otherwise.
Are there other GUI front ends (or that export) to Lilypond
that work on Mac OS X?
Canorus should compile "out of the box" on OS X as long as the
prerequisites are installed (on 10.4 that is; there may be issues with
previous versions). So far I have been compiling it on PPC, but the
PPC
builds have been tested on Intel as well and run fine under emulation.
Someday in the not-too-distant future I hope to look into making
universal binaries. In the very near future (hopefully within the next
week) OS X installer packages will be ready (PPC binaries, .pkg in a
.dmg); I have been putting off posting binary packages until I have
some build system updates ready to commit to svn.
As for other GUI programs, Rosegarden has been ported to OS X via Fink
and X11, although it doesn't do sound on OSX, and the last time I
tried
to build it it didn't work for some reason. Denemo has also been
ported
in the same way, but I'm not sure how alive that project is these
days.
I'm sure you already know about Lilypond.app, although it is probably
not quite the "GUI" you were hoping for :). It is a standalone
GUI .app
that lets you compile .ly files and generate PDFs though, but you
still
have to enter the score as Lilypond code.
I am very interested to hear about any issues you've had building
Canorus on OSX; please follow up to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sam
