Hi,
Today, when browsing through the OpenOffice.org Forum, I discovered by
chance the tool OOoLatex. It allows to use Latex from within
OpenOffice.org. One just has to enter an expression for a mathematical
equation in a dialog box and click the "Latex" button. The equation then
appears renderd as a high resolution image embedded in OpenOffice.org.
The source code of the equation is also stored in the image object. The
equation can be altered just by selecting the image object and calling
the OOoLaTeX dialog box again.
The website of the tool is:
http://www.fyma.ucl.ac.be/wiki/~piroux/OOo+macro
OOoLatex consists of OOoMacros and a bash script. Since the source code
is open, it should not be very difficult to get OOoLatex also working
with lilypond code. This would allow people who want to write a text
book that includes some lines of music to do it in OpenOffice.org
instead of writing the complete book in LaTeX.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do the necessary adjustments,
nor do I really have a need to include lines of music into
OpenOffice.org. But I'm sure there are many people who would very much
like to work with lilypond and OpenOffice.org. So I posted the idea here
in the hope it might be useful for somebody who is willing to spend some
time on this task.
Cheers,
Samuel
