I do something similar with FilkTeX which embeds LilyPond scores.

You can find my example project described in German at
https://www.draketo.de/kreatives/liederbuch#erstellen

and the build instructions in English at
https://hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/draketos-songbook#to-build-from-the-repository

An example with LilyPond integration is
https://hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/draketos-songbook/browse/delfini.flk (text)
https://hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/draketos-songbook/browse/delfini-tune.ly (lilypond
tune)

The songs are included via zongbook.tex to form the book:
https://hg.sr.ht/~arnebab/draketos-songbook/browse/zongbook.tex

The example book is quite short, because I’m not allowed to publish
the full book (it’s for playing guitar with friends) but I can attest
that the structure works well with 200 songs.

Best wishes,
Arne
