The easiest way to install LilyPond is via Fresco’s preferences.
Additionally you need something for MIDI playback, e.g. fluidsynth with
the Qsynth GUI. But if that works with your old installation, it should
still work with the latest.
Windows is never a solution if you don’t want to lose your data; try
Linux instead (if you don’t need programs that won’t run there).
