I have MacBook Pro, M2 Max, 14.7.4, and I have set it up in such a way that, in
Frescobaldi 3.3, I have the MIDI info sent to the virtual instruments on Logic
Pro. Like everyone here, though, I haven’t gotten the MIDI playback feature
worked on my system, either.

However, as I was tweaking the MIDI settings on Frescobaldi 4.0.1, after
clicked “OK” to exit the preference window, there was one chord that Logic Pro
caught and played. It was probably a chord that was in the middle of the
playback (that I couldn’t hear in the first place). But then there was no sound
afterwards.

One thing I noticed was that it produced a MIDI file as before. So I suppose
one workaround at the moment is to play that file via an external MIDI Player,
though this is cumbersome, admittedly. I hope something will be addressed soon.
