Hello David, I agree that documentation is a bit sparse in some parts, and I do think that the design of having to tell the font tree the current scale to be a bit weird (as far as I see this was necessary as using set-global-staff-size would directly adjust scale of the fonts.
But note that the next stable release will not be using that system anyway, as Jean has changed the font handling a lot, turning fonts handling into a property based approach (which will also allow changing fonts for specific grobs, say have Clefs come from a different notation font). So really this is not actually going to matter anyway for future realeases. Cheers, Valentin
