Well, you added 2 \bar commands at the same time (for Lilypond), which is a line break. So only the last one was considered, which was \bar ".|:", the definition of which includes nothing at the end of the line. As explained in the documentation (really, just scroll a little up) and as given in my message, in this case you could use \bar ".|:-||". This example is given as is in the documentation.
