If you search the mailing list archives you will find that this is a normal thing, since the LilyPond generated PS files are somewhat special. I don't remember the details now, but it might help to get a more recent version of Ghostscript. Anyway, I view the PS file more as an intermediate file that's mainly used internally by LilyPond to produce the final PDF.
