It sure seems like this could be done automagically (maybe using a Scheme engraver?). You could say something like \specialnote \breve 8*931 and it would (1) engrave a note that looks like the first parameter given (in this case, a breve); (2) automatically engrave the ties and system-left-edge “reminder notes” for the duration given (in this case, 931 eighth notes). One day I’ll be good enough to try this myself… in the meantime, perhaps Someone Else™ will. Best, Kieren.
