My problem was i did not use \consists "Span_arpeggio_engraver" in the right context. (i did not use the \with and parenthesis correctly) FYI, I was also confused by NR 1.3.3 because i do not create voices using { } \\ { } and had trouble figuring out where to place the \once \set StaffGroup.connectArpeggios = ##t Thanks again!
