As far as LilyPond is concerned, I'm mostly using Frescobaldi as a DX (Direct Exchange, i.e. replacement?) for jEdit and emacs. I'm not a military guy at all (neither physically nor mentally), but I spent most of my life in close vicinity of the U.S. Army Europe Headquarters. I think I've never heard "DX" in the meaning of "replacement" from non-military people, so I guess it's military slang (is it?). Or did you, by any chance, mean something completely different, at all? And the moral of the story is … … sometimes, an abbreviation can be the beginning of a long journey ...
