LilyPond has a header that can be added to any score with \header. Does something like this do what you want? \score { \relative { \tempo "Allegro" c'1 } \header { piece = "Rondo" } \layout { indent = 0 } } In the \header, "piece" has no significance other than having a default placement on the left.
