Hi Bill,

I should have probably made explicit that this isn’t part of the standard LilyPond distribution; instead it’s available through OpenLilyLib <https://github.com/openlilylib>, specifically its snippets library.

You can download that—either simply as an archive of files or by cloning the Git repository—and then add the path to the openlilylib root directory to LilyPond. This goes either directly through the command line option or, if you use Frescobaldi, through its Preferences>Lilypond dialogue.

In trying to follow along with this list I was unable to get to my root directory (linux mint 18.?) even though I have admin privileges. using locate and find command in terminal did not come up with package.ily or oll-core.  I also searched the general internet and https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user.  found lots of references to this but no way to download the ily file as I have done a
few times in the past.

Any help or pointers are appreciated.
