Ok, the examples in the manual may not actually be the best here since they just happen to have a number at the start of all lines in the relevant examples. So I thought this was already the case. This seems actually tricky to do since the algorithmic bar number visibility (defaulting to everything being visible) is applied independently of the line-break-based visibility (defaulting to only show line numbers at the start of the line) and either only have the power to _remove_ line numbers rather than to add them.
