Current master will in most situations do what you want anyway. Earlier versions require explicitly marking \parenthesize as a "post event" by preceeding it with - or ^ or _. So c-\parenthesize \prall (for example). I would be at a complete loss about where, if at all, the requirement to "declare" generic music functions as post events (when used in that facility) in that manner would be documented.
