That’s not true, Frescobaldi 3.0 works perfectly fine on Linux if you set it up correctly. There are many situations when that’s difficult to do, but Urs put up a very good new set of instructions on the Frescobaldi wiki: <https://github.com/wbsoft/frescobaldi/wiki/Installing-Frescobaldi-3-on-Linux-(Package-or-Source)> (At the bottom of the page, there are some outdated bits of information.)
However, in F2.18 you can also use Tools->Special Characters.
