You can either use brackets : { a8 a16[ a] a a a a }
But I guess you want it automated in every measure, so you have to override
the beatSturcutre:
{
\overrideTimeSignatureSettings
#'(4 . 8) % timeSignatureFraction
#'(1 . 16) % baseMomentFraction
#'(2 2 4) % beatStructure
#'() % beamExceptions
\time 4/8
a8 a16 a a a a a
}
