Hello, all:
While my Lilypond-installation-screwup (still on-going!) has brought my engraving plans to a halt, I'd like to ask if/how the whole Lilypond system (TeX and all) could be made into a single executable that someone could download, install, and run without being a command-line expert. I'm happy to act as compiler/packager, as long as I know the end-user could simply double-click (or even drag-and-drop) and turn a text file into a beautiful Lilypond engraving.
Hi Kieren,
It might be better to support the already proven working Lilypond in Fink. The package maintainer, Matthias Neeracher, is very helpful about providing support and the installation system, even if you haven't got Fink installed to start with, can be condensed into very few steps that the user can follow point for point.
I do however, see the attraction of a Lilypond front-end for OS X, I'm imagining even an editor like Dreamweaver's or something where you could use the click through capabilities that Emacs uses today. This would then be a small application that you could use once you had installed Lilypond from Fink.
I'm working on a kind of front end for Lilypond in OS X at the moment, but it's very specifically a tablature editor. If there are any interest in collaborating on a more general front end I'd be more than happy to start organising something.
