You're right!If you choose orientation Portrait in gv, you will see the full page but rotated. Hopefully, your printer will also handle the PS file correctly.
You are right here too! I updated at the same time my redhat version from 7.3 to 9 and lily from 1.6.11 to 1.8.0. Redhat 9 dvips and gv seem to have bugs. Sorry for having thought it was lily.The problem is not in LilyPond but probably in your dvips. In my installation wich has dvips(k) 5.86 instead of your dvips(k) 5.92b, I do get page numbers in gv.
