Thanks for mentioning SVG – right now, the SVG backend is more or less
unmaintained and will eventually be removed as soon as we switch to
Cairo (in the hopefully not too distant future), which will then take
care of creating PDF, SVG, etc.

This means that it would be sufficient to make the Cairo backend also
create logging output.  In case I'm not missing something this
shouldn't be too hard to add.
