Below is the copy of a discussion on the LilyPond Facebook group that I found interesting. Just food for thought.
Anonymous Participant: No lilypondinstaller for Macos Monterrey? Me: What is the issue exactly? As stated on https://lilypond.org/download.html, the provided downloads support macOS 10.15 and later. Monterey is macOS 12, so it's supported. Anonymous Participant: Downloaded the package- but no installer to found. Then after reading some instructions that reminded me of the nineties i tried everything frpm Terminal - commands, downloaded and installing “Frescobaldi” (don´t work), downloaded MacPorts and tried (in vain) installing LilyPond, and in the end give up. I downloaded and installed Lilypond with a functioning installer some 10 years ago on my old MacPro without any problems. Me: What exactly didn't work with Frescobaldi? Anonymous User: Error screen “terminate”..and flatly refused to open. The circumstantial procedure take me back to the nineties when similar procedures were common while installing “cracked” softwares. Installing LilyPond 10 years ago - no problem! Maybe m1 computer and recent macos don´t really go well with LilyPond. Anyway, thank you for responding, i really appriciate that but I´ll better give up Lilypond (and I got Dorico 5 anyway). Spending time in order installing a software..no!
