IMHO, it would make more sense to render them with a dedicated grob. Beam code is already very complex. I think it would be a mistake to further complicate it in order to make it handle such notation. It is better if Jianpu experts can tinker with a small amount of dedicated code, and common Western notation experts don't have to consider these unfamiliar (to them) use cases.
