As extender events are generated automatically now it probably is a
good idea to tell yacc / bison to recognize but ignore "__" tokens.
I don't know at which level the __, \overrides and the automatic
extenders interact. But would it make sense to use __ now, to force an
extender e.g. on a single long note?
__ meant: "Add an extender event". With the proposed patch there is such an
event after every syllable. Cut & paste from old scores to new scores never will
be handled correctly by convert.ly, therefore __ should never should be reused.
__ would probably look nicer than the much longer \override.
\forceExtender is short enough, but in 99% of the cases you probably should
not use it but change collapse-length to your personal taste. If you really want
to force an extender on a single note, you also probably want to indicate the
length, so use \forceExtenderTo.
