I definitely see a _different_ website. In IE9 the shaded search box and
plainer nav bar are there, and the small LilyPond image is no longer on the
nav bar.

Hmmm... I'm not seeing any difference. (at least not yet...?) After the
changes take effect the main navigation bar should be:
LilyPond Introduction Download Manuals Community
but I'm still seeing:
Main Introduction Download Manuals Community
It's odd because I see there was a change to the website content [1] that
happened after my first edit to lilypond-texi2html.init [2], but that didn't
cause my first edit to take effect on the site.
