It doesn't include David's latest suggestions (because I was already
ready with it).
This suggestion is merely a kind of "in-place" rewrite, but
of course I'd also incorporate the more verbose suggestion
(particularly as I will be working on this

I think putting it this way sounds less defensive or
arrogant.
I think it is better to combine the two paragraphs because
this section was somewhat jaggy.
