Good question. They have probably gotten stricter regarding there
dependency policies.
Or maybe this particular maintainer just had a bad day. Except for the
Guile dependency,
which is easily solvable, the Homebrew formula works just fine.

Of course. Any idea how heavy this lifting would be? I guess a thorough
understanding
of the Lilypond code base is needed, so it requires a real athlete. But if
a mere weakling
such as myself can do anything to help, I'd be more than willing. ☺
