The change that introduced this breakage (tracker issue 2719) has been put for review on Rietveld on August 7th (more than two weeks ago), and it purposely avoided the next release, so it shouldn't qualify at a last-minute change... well, TBH it's kind of last-minute given the current frequency of releases.
